Apple Sues Qualcomm Claiming Monopolising the Market
Qualcomm has been the leading manufacture of microprocessors in the current age of electronics since it began. The processors produced by Qualcomm have been the center of the phones consumers use daily. With these cutting edge processors comes a steep royalty fee. Apple has had enough, claiming Qualcomm “unfairly insisted on charging royalties for technologies they have nothing to do with.” Furthermore, Apple states that “Qualcomm insists on charging Apple at least five times more in payments than all the other cellular patent licencors we have agreements with combined.” They are seeking justice in a UK court system.
This is not the first claim against Qualcomm, as South Korea fined the company approximately $1.3 million as part of an anti-trust agreement.
Apple has another lawsuit against Qualcomm in California for anti-trust activity – or monopolization.
